Finding Collector Application

The "ArcGIS Collector" application can be found on the home screen of your properly configured tablet. To access the Collector application click on the icon shown below. ***There may be a similar icon on your home screen, which is an old version of collector and should no longer be used.

Logging into Collector

During your initial login you will be prompted to sign in to Collector to access the maps and data you have permissions to view/edit. Make sure that you are loging in through the City of Austin's ArcGIS Online organization by typing in "Austin" in the text box in front of ".maps.arcgis.com" in the sign in window. You will also want to select the "Remember this URL" option so will not have to do this step in the future. Once you select continue, a new window will open allowing you to sign in with your city credentials. Make sure to select the blue "COACD WINDOWS" button and use your city login credentials when prompted.

Searching for Map in Collector

After opening the Collector application, search for "Bike Parking" in the top search bar. If multiple maps display you will be using the "Bike Parking Web Map".

Initial load of Map

Map will display showing existing map locations symbolized by the type and status of a parking location. The map will also display your current location, if GPS is enable, which you can also use to map new parking locations using the blue button with the white plus sign in the lower right hand corner.

Adding a New Point

You can add a new point by using your GPS location. By default, when you add a new point to the map it will zoom to your current location, you can move the location of the point around the map if the feature is location outside of your immediate location. If you place a point and need to refine its location, move the plus sign locator on the map to the new location and select the blue "UPDATE POINT" button.

All maintenance records are related back to point location on the map. This means that multiple maintenance records can be tied back to one bike parking location. To add maintenance records you will have to access the maintenance table that can be found by selecting a bike rack location and scrolling to the end of the input attribute table. Here, you can open the existing maintenance records are add new maintenance records by clicking the blue Add button.

Filling Out New Maintenance Records

Once the add button is selected you will be able input a new maintenance record the same way attributes were added for the bike parking locations. When adding maintenance records you will also have the ability to capture a photo tied to that maintenance records. You can either take a photo directly through the app or attach and existing photo that has previously been saved to your device. Once attributes and photos have been collected you can submit the record by tapping the check mark in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
